Premiere SuperNEX, an electric concept bike from Kymco
Kymco is listening to the times and opening up to the segment of electric motorcycles. Their unexpectedly striking sports machine from 2018, although it was only a study, is now updated and perhaps series production is coming.
The SuperNEX is still a concept, but it has gone through many changes in terms of design. The style itself has also become much more futuristic than the previous version, this is partly due to the honeycomb pattern and the vivid combination of colors. This makes Kymco's sports bike to have an extraterrestrial look. The seating position will be like other sport bikes in the segment.
Regarding the underlying technology, they revealed that it reaches 100 km/h in 2,9 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h. The SuperNEX will also be equipped with a six-speed gearbox similar to the non-electric machines, but there are not many details about how it is inserted into the drive train. There will also be an artificially produced engine sound through speakers: some will think it's crap, and some will find it an acceptable compromise.
The electronics package was named FEP (Full Engagement Performance). It includes wheelie prevention, traction control and cornering ABS, as well as four driving modes. In this respect, we get a very good package from the Taiwanese manufacturer. The only question is timing: Kymco has not yet announced when series production will start and when distribution can begin.
