Tech Start of the era of replaceable batteries?
This novelty by Electrica is clearly aimed at the youngest motorcyclists as Aprilia starts to renew its 125cc portfolio with electric models.
One step in the change was the presentation of the Electrica prototype, which is the company's first electric motorcycle, and also the result of the developments of the owner Piaggio group since 1975.
Piaggio previously joined the SBMC (Swapable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium), and the first result of that makes the Electrica really interesting: it has the swappable battery, so it is expected that the Aprilia will also be able to be put to work by charging the battery at home or by simply replacing it. The latter would be an important weapon, because in this way the biggest disadvantage compared to gasoline ones (the slower charging than refueling), could be eliminated in one fell swoop, so silent machines could become even more competitive against today's four-strokes.
